Afrobeats?
Hii babesss. It's yass again I can't sleep well a topic just brushed my mind so let's write an article about it!!!
Afrobeats refers to the urban popular music originating in Nigeria in the late 1960s that emphasizes percussion rhythms and features elements of jazz and funk and lyrics which are often strongly political. Some past afro beat musicians who gave afro beats the true meaningit deserved like:
Fela Kuti,D'banj,P square,2 face,Wande Coal,Lil Kesh, Olamide and others
Now, there's a change in the afrobeat industry by many artists and thar is the constant use of sex. Lyrics, videos everything corrupted with no soulful meaning. Tell me through these lyrics if it represents what afrobeats symbolises:
Body by Mavo ‘I wan chop your body your body na meatpie’ since when could a woman's body be compared to food?. Is that all you love her for?. It gives the impression our body is sweet, attractive, very desirable. It’s not deep poetry — it’s street-style, catchy desire talk, which fits Afrobeats’ focus on rhythm, body movement, and playful sensuality.
Since when was it believed that a woman could not pay for her necessities or wants and she has to go through sexual activities to get what she wants. Again if she’s not willing to be sexually available, then who’s going to buy her luxury stuff?.
It ties sexual availability to financial support in a blunt, materialistic way
The previous afrobeats should be brought back what happened to ‘You are my African queen, the girl of my dreams’🎶🎶. This song African queen by 2 baba shows the immense love for her heritage, her beauty ans everything an African woman should stand for.
To me, afrobeats symbolizes a modern, vibrant, and, in many ways, triumphant, rebranding of African identity and cultural pride on the global stage. It represents a shift from a monolithic, often negative, perception of Africa to one that celebrates the continent’s diversity, energy, and creativity, transforming how the West interacts with African culture.
So please bring back afrobeats🎷🪘🥁🪕

You gettttt it😭😭
No more touch of the soul, just beats and party vibes. It's like music now are made just for clubs
